Subject: Policy on Gender Equality and Protection over the Person Reporting a Case of Gender Inequality in Khon Kaen University

        The Gender Equality Act of B.E. 2558 (2015) 2015), which was issued in agreement with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, states that regarding human dignity, rights, freedom, and equality, individuals should receive equal protection according to the law. Men and women hold equal rights and should not be treated with unfair discrimination, notwithstanding whether the reason is a difference in the place of birth, nationality, sex, age, disability, physical or health condition, or individual status. Khon Kaen University sees the importance of this matter, and hence, has issued a policy to govern gender equality and non-discrimination, as follows:
        (1) Khon Kaen University has a policy to enhance knowledge and understanding among its personnel and students that is related to equality; respect for human dignity, human rights, and freedoms; and gender equality. The policy seeks to have individuals refrain from performing actions that maltreat others, insult others, and devalue others due to gender-related issues, conditions of gender, and sexuality, including sexual-related bias that shows disrespect or diminishes the rights and freedoms of an individual.
        (2) Khon Kaen University has a policy to enhance gender equality and to avoid gender inequality and sexual harassment (both verbal and physical sexual harassment or non-contact harassment) that is immoral, or to avoid expressing the intention of harassment. The University has set guidelines to prevent and solve the problem of sexual harassment in the University.
        (3) Khon Kaen University has a policy to protect those individuals, who have reported cases of gender inequality; sexual discrimination of males, females, and transgender individuals; and discrimination against the disabled. The personal information of an individual who chooses to report a case of gender inequality will be protected in order to prevent any impact that may arise from being a witness in the investigation thereof, such as being a witness in a court case.
