Monday November 9, 2020 at the house of the Canadian Ambassador to Thailand in Bangkok – An MOU signing ceremony was held for academic collaboration for developing English language competency for students and educators between Khon Kaen University, the Canada-Thailand Economic Cooperation Foundation and Brain Cloud Company.
Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Services and Acting Director of the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN represented Khon Kaen University to sign the MOU with the Canada-Thailand Economic Cooperation Foundation, represented by Dr. Chingchai Hanjenlak; and the Brain Cloud Company (Thailand) represented by Mr. Tan Soamboonsrup. This MOU signing ceremony was honored to have H.E. Dr. Sarah Taylor, the Canadian Ambassador to Thailand as the key witness. The Canadian Embassy in Thailand’s responsibilities also cover Lao PDR and Cambodia. Among other attendants were Mrs. Puangthong Poonruang, an expert in personnel management, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jiradawan Hantula, Assistant Director for Professional Development and Academic Service and Dr. Nisakorn Bunsena, a lecturer of the Faculty of Education.
This project is tri-lateral collaboration of Khon Kaen University, the Canada-Thailand Economic Cooperation Foundation and Brain Cloud Company (Thailand). The MOU has as its objectives to create cooperation between a university and an entrepreneur in the private sector, to develop a program that responds to the present-day needs, to have an experienced university and the private sector train students, educators, and those interested in English language through an online platform, and to perform joint research studies in instructional development. These objectives match one of Khon Kaen University’s strategies, which aims at Education Transformation or enhancement of transformation of instruction based on the new paradigm. Online-Learning courses will be used as the instructional medium and the program will train learners to be competent with the necessary future skills.
