KKU joins Jiujiang University to open KKU Graduate Study Zone for offering pre-programs for Chinese students at the graduate level

April 7, 2023 – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Asst. Prof. Acharawan To-Pharkngam, Ph.D., Assistant to KKU President for International Affairs; Dean of the Faculty of Public Health; Dean of the Graduate School and Dean of the Graduate Study in Management; and Dr. Chuanchen BI, Assistant to the Dean of the Graduate Study in Management visited Jiujiang University (JJU), the People’s Republic of China.

At 09.00 a.m. – President of Khon Kaen University co-presided the opening ceremony of the KKU Graduate Study Zone with Prof. Dr. Xiaolin CHEN, President of Jiujiang University. The KKU Graduate Study Zone is established under the collaboration between Khon Kaen University and Jiujiang University, with the objectives to prepare Chinese students from JJU before entering the graduate school of Khon Kaen University and to provide information regarding instruction and programs that are available at KKU for Chinese students.

From 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. – the Collaborative Meeting was held between the two institutes for discussion of co-operations such as in establishing a committee for administering programs at the graduate level, exchange of staff, students and researchers, and addition of the number of Co-advisors at the graduate level. Khon Kaen University and Jiujiang University has already been under an MOU since 2022, and at present, there are students from JJU studying in the graduate program in Management (MBA) and in the Faculty of Architecture. There are a lot more Chinese students from JJU wishing to enroll in Khon Kaen University. Thus, JJU has plans for sending more students to study in other faculties in the future.

From 14.00-18.00 p.m. – JJU Vice President, Professor Wang Wanshan, showed KKU administrators around the JJU campus to see their different facilities such as the learning center, the library, and dormitories, and a visit to see ongoing instruction at the School of Arts, the Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, where a new medical center has just recently been founded with new modern medical equipment and AI technologies to provide services to people of Jiujiang as of September 2022.

From 19.00-21.30 p.m. – KKU organized a public relation activity of programs offered at KKU for foreign students. KKU President gave the overall information about KKU teaching and learning, and the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Dean of the Graduate School for Management and Dean of the Graduate School gave the information about the programs offered and how to apply. The final session was the Question and Answer Session, where attendants asked for more information they were interested in. This activity was of great interest among the JJU students and their parents.
