IRDTP FOR ASEAN ORGANIZES WORKSHOP IN THE TOPIC OF “RESEARCH AND PRACTICE OF CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT IN THAILAND”

On November 5, 2019 – Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP for ASEAN) organized workshop in the topic of “Research and Practice of Classroom Management in Thailand” at IRDTP for ASEAN and Kookhampittayasan School in Khon Kaen.

At 9.30 a.m., it was an honor to have Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, Vice President for Education and Acting Director of IRDTP for ASEAN, giving welcome speech and special talk to staff from Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport of Cambodia; and staff from Cambodian Teacher Training Colleges. All 8 visitors were interested in teaching approaches in Thailand and visiting Thai elementary schools.

At 2 p.m., Assoc. Prof. Ua-jit Pattanajak, a lecturer of the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University, led the visitors to observe classes at Kookhampittayasan School in Khon Kaen. Police Corporal Poltong Pengwongsa, School Director; Miss Areewan Silarat and Miss Chonlatorn Nonting, teachers of Kookhampittayasan School, welcomed the group of visitors from Cambodia. The following activity was an open class of Kookhampittayasan School students taught by Miss Kanitta Petchara.

The objectives of this activity were to exchange knowledge regarding Research and Practice of Classroom Management in Thailand, to observe classes and to employ Lesson Study as well as Open Approach in class. It was a great opportunity to exchange academic knowledge and develop research for the clearer academic development of Thai schools including teachers so that the study results could be applied to the development of schools in the area in the long term.
