Class 4 of the Education Alumni gave a million-baht worth scholarships to present students as social dedication

January 9, 2023 at 15:00 p.m. – Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University received an amount of money worth roughly one million baht from Class 4 of Education Alumni, which is meant to be granted as scholarships for some of the present students of the Faculty. Director of the Division of Student Affairs, Mr. Somnuk Pinthong, chaired the event on the part of Class 4 Education Alumni. KKU President chaired the ceremony on the part of Khon Kaen University to receive the amount of 1,115,500.29 baht for scholarships awarding. The event took place at the meeting room on the 2nd floor of Student Development and Alumni Relation Building.

Mr. Somnuk Pinthong, Director of the Division of Student Affairs said that the Class 4 Education Alumni Scholarship Fund was established long time ago since when he became the Director of the Student Development Division. He made a visit to students’ homes in different areas in nearly all provinces and districts in Isan. When considering students’ limitation in terms of expenses, traveling, and living conditions, many students could not afford to continue their studies as they wished. Therefore, he asked his friends and started mobilizing fund for the scholarship. He and his friends decided that when the amount of money reached the target, the Class would transfer it to the University. Today, they have succeeded in mobilizing an amount of 1115500.29 baht and so are giving it to the University so that a number of students will benefit from it. It is hoped that the granted students will return to the society when they graduate and have a job, and hopefully, they will support the younger students in the future.
“Every bit of earth on Mo Din Daeng ground is the heart and life of Class 4 of Education Alumni. I always repeat to the officers of the Student Development Division to look after all students well, like they are our children. The alumni also think the same, and therefore we use the interest from the fund to grant some students for their studies. If there is any problem, please let me know. We want to enable students to learn with no hardship.”

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University thanked the alumni for the chance given to young students for their studies. He believed that no one would understand the lifestyle in the university as well as the alumni who used to study here before. The alumni would know what students are in shortage of when they study. Therefore, when the students graduate and become successful in their work and personal lives, they could return the chance they receive now to the younger students.
“I personally remember well the benefaction of the former students. Mr. Somnuk had looked after us very well like we were his siblings. Thanks to all the alumni who mobilized the scholarship funds for the students. I wish you all good health so that you will continue to support the young students,” ended the President.
