Faculty of Dentistry, KKU, joins HRH Medical Volunteer Unit (PMMV) to serve in dental health care and oral health promotion

Tuesday October 24, 2023 – Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak went to Namphongsuksa School, Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen, to visit the 8th Operations of The Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Unit (PMMV) Khon Kaen. The Royal Patronage Dental Unit of the Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, and the Royal-patronage volunteers, joined the HRH Medical Volunteer Unit from Chulabhorn Hospital, Khon Kaen Public Health Office and other hospitals to provide health care and check-ups. There were 309 people receiving the medical services.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Walailak gave HRH audience to the members of PMMV Khon Kaen and led in singing the song, “Luad Yod Diaw (One Drop of Blood)”, which was composed by HRH herself. HRH next gave a speech to the PMMV members for their moral support in their operation for the public.”

“I really appreciate that all of you sacrifice your own time to work for the others. All PMMV members deserve to be respected, for you help the people, especially in their health. Our country will grow or not depends on human resource first. If people are ill and there is no health care for them, it would be difficult for the country to grow.”

Next, HRH the Princess distributed the member and sub-member PMMV emblem, which is a brooch written with the Royal Appellation, S.V. and trophies to officers and PMMV volunteers. Two staff members from the Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, were given the PMMV brooch and 6 members were given the Royal Appellation brooch.

Mrs. Wanna Traipinitkul, a senior professional dentist assistant, Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, one of the receivers of the PMMV brooch said that up to now, she has been dedicating herself to assist the dentists and joined this project every time she had the chance, for she wanted to help the public to have good oral health. Today, she was very happy to receive this emblem. It really is a good support for her and will make her continue to work for the society.

Khon Kaen is the 45th province under the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer (PMMV) that began the work in 1975. At present, there are 4,648 doctors, dentists, pharmacists, professional nurses and volunteers working for PMMV. The Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, has continuously joined PMMV in providing oral health care to the community.
