Mr. Morakot Pittarat, President of Khon Kaen University Alumni Association said, “The crisis from the spread of Covid-19 must bring troubles to some students. Even though some of them are on scholarship, it might not be enough. Many have to take special jobs in order to earn money. Now that the pandemic takes a long time, some students are not able to find jobs, which at the moment lessen in number. The campaign this time comes from the alumni, who want to show that we see the problem and want to help the younger ones pass the crisis, and be able to work towards their future.”
Mr. Suriya Tantiwiwat, President of Engineering Alumni Association explained, “When we learned from Khon Kaen University that some students are confronted with impacts from the Covid-19 crisis, the association members discussed how we could help. Before now, the Engineering Alumni Association had raised funds to assist the community, by donating medical supplies, drinking water, or supporting the mission of hospitals and field hospitals. When we learned about the hard time of young students, we started campaigning to raise funds to help them. We hope that the trouble will be lessened. Alumni of other faculties also joined in the fund-raising.”
Mr. Chalermchai Wongnakphet, a member of Khon Kaen University Council and former President of Khon Kaen University Alumni Association thanked the ex-students for their concern about KKU students who are in trouble. This shows the attachments and love towards the university and the young students.
Assoc. Prof. Piansak Pakdee, Vice President for the Student Development and Alumni Relation thanked the associations on behalf of Khon Kaen University. “KKU in fact assists students in many aspects. There are scholarships to support them. Lunch coupon project is another mission that we help students to lessen their trouble. We allocated 600,000 for the first phase of lunch coupon project. We are grateful to Khon Kaen University Alumni Association, Engineering Alumni Association, and all those concerned for the fund given to the university today. KKU will proceed with the lunch project as it has been aimed.”
