Academic Service Bureau presents to the Savings Bank Committee the “Omsin’s Youths’ Conservation of Locality” (Squared)

March 31, 2022 – The Academic Service Bureau of Khon Kaen University and the National Savings Bank held an event for presentations of the guidelines for community organization development (by 5 sub-projects) to the Savings Bank Committee. The event was organized online and onsite at Manee Thewa Room, Academic Service Bureau, under the 2022 Promotion Project for Local Wisdom Development or “Omsin Yuwapat Rak Thin Yok Kamlang Song (Squared Youth’s Conservation of Locality)

Assoc. Prof. Chuchat Kamonlert, Ph.D., D.V.M., Director of the Academic Service Bureau presided over the opening session and explained about the rationale of the project. The Academic Service Bureau and the National Savings Bank have collaborated in supporting community enterprises and in the University’s instruction to prepare quality graduates. The activity is a pilot for connecting and applying knowledge with local wisdoms while enhancing experiences for students, making them aware of their social, community, and environmental responsibilities. Lecturers of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy take part in this project by being the principle supervisors for the students in their activities. The project students also have a chance to work with entrepreneurs in the community, and this is the heart of the project implementation.

The next session after the opening was project introduction and preparation of the teams by Khun Nattawut Thammatanon, Vice Manager of the Savings Bank for Small Entrepreneurs’ Businesses and Community Organization. In 2022, the National Savings Bank came up with the project gimmick – “Square 2”. This is directed towards quality development and sustainability of the community. The Savings Bank has set the guidelines for the implementation by emphasizing full online marketing, VTR and E-Posters for public relation through various channels, live broadcast for product selling, mentoring the community in carrying out online marketing, promoting the community to make financial accounts and calculating costs of products, promoting standard certifications of goods and services, and collecting all necessary data for the community. Less but not least is the integration of the work of students’ teams with the BCG Model, which is another indicator of success, and it means distribution of incomes to the community, lessening gaps, strengthening the community while at the same time being environmental friendly and aiming at achieving sustainable development.

After this were the presentations of the 5 groups of students to the Committee members of the National Savings Bank. The committee members comprised: Khun Vilasinee Saetae, Director of SMEs Development and Community Organizations; Khun Nattawut Thammatanon, Vice Manager of the Savings Bank for Small Entrepreneurs’ Businesses and Community Organizations; Khun Sarawut Suklerttrakoon, Director of Khon Kaen Area 2; Khun Witsanu Chonkai, Assistant to Regional Director 11, Community Finance Unit; Khun Nattapon Duangmala, Assistant to the Director for Business Development from the Academic Service Bureau, KKU; Assoc.
