In the morning of July 29, 2020 – Ion-Lithium Battery Prototype Factory of Khon Kaen University held the merit making event. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the ceremony. Those attending were Prof. Thidarat Bunmars, Ph.D., Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise, Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service, administrators, project leader, staff and distinguished guests who joined in presenting breakfasts and offerrings to 9 monks led by Phra Khru Mettamahakhun. Next, the monks prayed and blessed the new enterprise with growth and success in their manufacturing of the ion-lithium batteries.
Ion-Lithium Battery Prototype Factory of Khon Kaen University is situated at the Northeast Science Park. It is a prototype factory to manufacture “nanosilicon” from rice husks and ash, which are the raw materials used in making battery terminals. The capacity to save energy is 12 times higher than carbon, but the small size and light weight make nanosilicon more promising. The manufactured battery has the highest capacity when compared to other market available ion batteries. The life before another charging is also longer, making the products important in the future industrial development.
